1. What's your name and and current occupation?
Janae Corrado, artist and art instructor at Daytona State College and Eastern Florida State College.
2. When did you first get into art and what inspired it?
I've been an artist as long as I can remember, before I realized what art was. I couldn't tell you how many times I got in trouble for drawing on walls or furniture as a child, but it was an insatiable need within me that couldn't be stopped... and hasn't stopped since.
3. How long have you been drawing/painting?
I've been drawing earlier than I can remember, and painting since I was probably 3 or 4... but I've been persuing it professionally since about 2006.
4. Favorite artists?
There are way too many to name, but I'll give a short list: Michael Hussar, Mark Ryden, Dan Quintana, Andrew Jones, Jeff Gogue, Kevin Llewellen, Shawn Barber, Tatiana Suarez, Stella Im Hultberg, Erik Jones, Adrianne Cherry, Johanna O'Donnell... I could go on for years.
5. What do you think you'd be doing if you hadn't found art?
No idea. I think art would have always been a part of me... it has without me realizing it.
6. Where do you see yourself in say 10 years (career wise).
I hope in 10 years I'm showing at higher caliber venues (possibly Art Basel??)
Shout outs and thank yous?
Big shout out to my husband and parents for standing behind my artistic endeavors. (especially my husband for putting up with my crazy ideas) Also, a big thanks to my professors in college for being hard asses to push me to be better, and to the Orlando art community.
