My earliest memories bring the warmth of summertime with my grandfather. One day we would sculpt together. One day we would craft something useful out of trash. One day we would paint or draw. Lesson #1 Create at least one work of art a day. Be constructive.
My next memories bring about pungent aromas of incent sticks and intriguing yet intimidating depictions of Hindu gods and goddesses. As a youngster, I didn't understand the purpose of the shrines my relatives worshipped but the bold, brightly colored illustrations of these 6-armed figures left their mark on my mindset.
A few years later, I found refuge in comic books and japanese animated films. The almost alien artistic nature of these two subjects held my interest hard and inspired me to illustrate the way I do today. These are the influences I need to remain loyal to. Rediscovery is essential and inevitable but unfortunately patience is still a virtue. Cheers.
